The SonoTek flux system utilises ultrasonic technology to atomise liquid flux which is then transported to the PCB by an inert gas shroud lift system.
The amount of flux atomised depends exclusively on the rate at which liquid is introduced onto the surface of the nozzle, this can be controlled by altering the pressure of the system via the machines graphical user interface (GUI)
A major advantage of ultrasonic nozzles over other liquid delivery systems is the low-velocity character of the spray, typically 0.6 to 1.2 feet per second. This virtually eliminates the “bounce back” of flux associated with other methods of flux application.
Due to the relatively large aperture size of the nozzle, fluxes of very high solid content can be used without the nozzle becoming blocked.
